At VETS ROCK, we do NOT provide "hand outs". We do however provide a "hand UP" for those veterans who need it the most and want it the most. One of the requirements for VETS ROCK helping a veteran is that the veteran being helped must as some point...."Pay it Forward" and help another veteran in need. How else will YOU show your support and honor our nations
true HEROES in 2011?
Here are some ideas for everyone if you're not sure what to do this year:
1) Make a donation to VETS ROCK.
2) Volunteer your time at local veteran events.
3) Visit your nearest VA Hospital and spend some time just visiting with veterans. (Many of them have incredible stories to tell and share).
4) Gather your friends and family and take food and drink to homeless and hungry veterans in your community.
5) Get your friends and family to donate clothing, coats and blankets to homeless veterans who live outdoors.
6) Ask your co-workers to donate along with you to VETS ROCK or to volunteer their time with you.
7) Stop and say THANK YOU to EVERY VETERAN you run into - at work, at school, at the store...wherever. Just stop...reach out your hand to theirs and genuinely THANK them for their service to you and to our great nation.
Folks, please know that simply putting a yellow ribbon magnet on your car that you picked up at the local convenience store is just NOT enough to show your support or to show your appreciation for the rights and freedoms we have in this country - which are and have been made possible by those brave men and women who serve and have served in the US Military.Without the sacrifices made by these outstanding people throughout the history of our country....we would NOT enjoy the freedoms that we have today in America.
Please remember - It's the land of the FREE, BECAUSE of the brave.
